Thought for the day
I’ve decided that there’s a big difference between a direction and a destination.
If you are heading in the right direction, then you are making progress, whatever happens. If you set a destination and don’t make it, you have failed.
It’s a mindset.
Anyway, I know some of you folks are thinking, this is all well and good, but how about some gratuitous tarmac shots, with sexy curves…
What you don’t see is the drop on the right. Birds nest on the cliff face and are safe, that’s how sheer and steep it is.

The difference between direction and destination seems a crucial one philosophically. My father, in the days when he was skippering rich folks on a yacht, commented that when guests first boarded they were in an almighty hurry to plan and do everything; snorkeling, water skiing … It was almost as if it took them a few days to remember how to relax, and to give themselves permission to just let events unfold.

Stephen~ It’s great to be able to watch your progress, see your thoughts via video and understand your realizations as they happen.
Direction vs Destination…and the challenges therein, as you are experiencing them, remind me of an old Confucius saying.
Confuscius say: Man who chases two rabbits catches neither.
It could be that the dot on the map is one rabbit, the goal of making tea each day at 4pm is another. Chasing both, catching neither.
Mix another element into that could be adding another rider and how you both chase the two rabbits?
I’m sure you and Tom will find your rythym in your journey….when you know how to make the two rabbits line up.
Have a wonderful time - We are all living your journey, vicariously through you.

The way you have described this is very thorough. I will link your blog page to mine.

Please don’t take this the wrong way. I think your overall ideas are fine but you might want to put a little more thought into your next posts. I say this becuase it seems like your writing style has gone downhill a bit as opposed to your previous posts. - C.

Charlotte, I must admit a lot of the inspiration was knocked out of me by my wife’s text and the subsequent paucity of anything pleasant or interesting happening.
